Our commitment

DealerPlan is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us. We collect, use, disclose and retain personal information only for identified business purposes and in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy requirements.

Information we collect

Depending on your request, we may collect contact information, identification details, purchase and trade information, employment and income information, financial obligations, banking details, credit information, supporting documents and communications with DealerPlan. We limit collection to information reasonably required to evaluate, arrange, administer or support the financing and related services you request.

How we use your information

We may use personal information to verify identity, communicate with you, assess and process a credit application, present a request to potential lenders, complete documentation, administer an approved transaction, provide requested products or services, prevent fraud, maintain business records and meet legal or regulatory obligations.

If we want to use your information for a new purpose that is not reasonably connected to the purpose originally explained, we will identify that purpose and obtain any consent required by law.

Consent and disclosure

We obtain consent appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. To provide the services you request, we may disclose relevant information to lenders, credit reporting agencies, identity-verification providers, insurers, product providers, dealerships and service providers that support our operations. We may also disclose information where permitted or required by law.

Service providers may process information in Canada or another jurisdiction. Information handled outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.

Safeguards

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Access is limited to people who require the information for their work. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying or modification.

Retention and disposal

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet legal, regulatory, tax, accounting and recordkeeping requirements. When information is no longer required, we securely destroy, erase or anonymize it using methods appropriate to the format and sensitivity of the information.

Website and device information

Our website may store limited preferences or calculator information on your device to support the experience you choose. Calculator scenarios remain on the page or device unless you intentionally share them.

We use Google Analytics to understand visits, page use and interactions such as application, calculator and contact selections. Analytics may receive device, browser, approximate location and interaction information; DealerPlan does not intentionally send credit-application answers or other sensitive financial information to Analytics. Google may process analytics information outside Canada.

Do not send identification documents, account numbers or other sensitive application information through ordinary email; use the secure credit application.

Access, correction and questions

You may ask about the personal information we hold about you, request access to it or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete, subject to applicable legal exceptions. You may also ask questions or raise a concern about our privacy practices.
